Inspired by rosabelle's new tv show post.

I have been meaning to start watching Person of Interest for awhile. The premise seemed fascinating and io9's constant praise of the show made it seem like a good idea. Honestly, I am not watching many plot driven shows, as opposed to shows that are more character driven, so it's a bit of a nice change of pace. I've only seen the first six episodes, (no spoilers please!) so it is possible that the show becomes more character driven as we learn more about them. Actually, take that back. The show is character driven, and that character is the machine. The slash goggles aren't on quite yet, but a quick look at AO3 says that they might be activated soon. I didn't read any of the descriptions of course for fear of spoilers, I just looked at the number of fics written for each pairing. I look forward to reading them and going through tumblr once I have caught up.

I am going to try the snowflake_challenge because I am feeling pretty good about fandom after cottoncandy_bingo and I want to try to keep that feeling going.


Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I am not sure I could pick one that I can safely say is my best work or even my most favorite. But there are fics I like more than others and for different reasons.


1. In Need of Warmth

Summary: Neal is missing something. Mozzie intervenes. Peter and Elizabeth take action.

I have written sex scenes before, but this is truly the most explicit fic I have ever written. I am proud of it because it has emotion, plot and is really steamy. I wonder if I will ever write a sex scene as good as the one here.

2. Peter’s Nudie Dance

Summary: A slashy possible ending to episode "Forging Bonds". They spend the entire night drinking and sharing secrets. What did you think would happen?

When I think of the most fun fic that I have written, I usually think of this one. I wish that I could have found some way to make it about the three of them, but I guess it is just as good with just Peter and Neal.

3. A Roll of the Dice to Make Things Nice

Summary: Peter/Elizabeth/Neal/Sara It's their first time together as a foursome and nerves are running high. A silly game helps them find their footing.

This is the fic that was the hardest for me to write. I actually surprised myself when I finally posted it.

I went to the comic book store today to buy the book 2 of Astonishing X-Men. This is what I came home with:



I bought Serenity because: duh. Hawkeye was on the 40% off shelf. I have a soft spot for Hawkeye because he’s human and has to fight along superheroes. I also don’t know much about him. I had a short conversation with the man behind the counter. We talked about how Marvel movies are so much successful than DC movies. He thinks that Avengers 2 is going to come out before 2015 and that no one is going to see Ant Man. I mentioned that I was interested in it because Edgar Wright was directing it, but it might suffer the same fate as Scott Pilgrim. I said that I was kinda backwards because I got into the movies before the comics and did so at an older age. He said that was common. I spent $60 in the store, but I think it was worth it. This was the second time I ever bought something in a comic book store (the first time was when I bought Astonishing X-Men Book 1), but I like the experience and I believe that it was worth it to support the store.

Even though I spent way more than I planned to, I am not too upset. I like to support local businesses when I can, especially bookstores and comic book stores because they are up against some very strong competition. I also made sure to visit the used bookstore nearby even though my reading list is already bloated. Quite frankly, used book stores are amazing. So much better than Amazon which has taken the heart and soul out of discovering and buying new books. In order to provide their low prices they have streamlined the process and taken all the fun out of it and I believe you lose more than you gain by shopping at amazon. If money is your issue, there is always the library. It’s free! The next time you don’t know what to read or if you are thinking about exploring a new genre, go to your local bookstore and just read down the shelves. You might make a great discovery or have fun imagining what the book might be about based on the title. Ask someone for help. They might have suggestions for you that you haven’t thought of and provide a personal service that no website could provide.
